This is a very special dram for me, have been contemplating to taste it and always been waiting for the 'right time' I myself don't know when is right time, just felt wasn't ready for this. After some encouragement, decided to go for it.
Nose: A gush of citrus lemon-like nose carrying very very light burnt peat, gentle nice soothing peat, that you'll love nosing it all day on a glencairn, the citrusy smell keeps coming, may carry some port ellen salinity breeze. The citrus mix with peat carries some wet rock or mineral kind of notes.
With 3 drops of water, lemon is further more prominent with some maritime following behind
Palate: Its smoke first for me, then zesty like of fruits, give it unripe oranges, lemon, grapefruit combined with some sweetness, smoke comes in light waves, slight warmness lingering with a tinge of wood bitterness for a moment.
With water this is truly mesmerizing, the smoke and mix with zestyness is quite amazing.
Finish: medium- long, gentle peat smoke, nice subtle lingering smoke.
Score : 92, WB25843
Definitely a beauty for me, my very first Port Ellen, but I do wonder if I'm given blind how would I have updated the notes.
Disclaimer, I do reference some other notes I've searched through to relate as much when I'm tasting it.
