Islay, Caol Ila, 1st Fill Sherry Butt, ABV 57.5%

Back today with a mystery dram, asked to do #blindtaste

Region : Islay ✅

Age : 18YO ❌

ABV : 54% ❌

Bottler : OB ❌

Distillery : Lagavulin❌ / Caol Ila

If I've to choose the distillery I may have went with Lagavulin.

Nose: high abv initially, but after leaving for a while, it doesn't hurt the nose much, leaving prominent leafy medical notes with herbal like nose

Taste: prickly warmness grows , buttering the entire palate with menthol like feeling , with some drop of water bitter sweetness lingers at the side of the tongue with a hint of wood

Finish: medium to long warmness , peatyness lingering , with a touch of oil, and some bitterness

After revealing discussion.

- taste doesn't feel like 1st fill sherry , I would have guessed it was matured under bourbon due to the bitterness influence.

- need to breathe for a while

- I find the peat a bit too harsh for me

Overall nice dram , thank you 👍🏻🙏🏻

Score : 87, WB169768
